Do you want to use your time in a useful way? Do you want to do something for weak people? Do you want to do something for people who are persecuted and discriminated because of their religion, their political attitude or because of their nationality?
If you wish to do so, the International Society of Human Rights (ISHR), which is located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is the right place for you!
There are many possibilities how everyone can engage in human rights work. We are sure that you'll find something, too. Some suggestions can be found here:
Did you ever think about becoming a member of ISHR? Through your membership you give ISHR as the victims' voice a higher importance. Each time when we engage in human rights work with governments, ministries, international organisations or authorities, the focus is on our members, on our "political importance". Your membership makes our importance higher and contributes to our work from a long-term perspective.
Furthermore your membership fees financially secure our human rights work. Despite the great effort of our volunteers in the international secretariat, some costs incur. Certainly, a membership does not oblige you to engage in activities. But it ensures you to be informed and updated as well as your active and passive right to vote and to be voted into positions within ISHR.
Everyone who is interested in human rights is welcome to participate. He or she should be at least 18 years old, hold up the values of liberty and democracy and should not belong to an extremist organisation. Please contact the ISHR section in your country.
Are you interested in an internship or voluntary work, e.g. translations? We would be glad about your contribution to our work. Please send us a letter or e-mail to Frankfurt or speak with your nearest section. Only through voluntary work of interns and volunteers can the wide range of ISHR's work be accomplished - thank you very much!
