North Korean Refugees in the PR China
Dear Mr. President,
I write to you in order to raise your attention to the fate of several thousands of refugees, which flew from the Democratic Republic of North Korea to China.
I appeal to you to use your influence and to grant these refugees protection in accordance with the Geneva Refugee Convention. Since refugees from North Korea currently do not receive any kind of legal status, many of them become victims of criminal exploitation and slave like lawlessness.
Refugees deported to North Korea await severe punishment, sometimes even the death penalty. At the same time South Korea, where many refugees want to go, is willing to receive these refugees.
