Mrs. Wang Xiaoyan: sentenced to two years of labour camp without accusation and trial
Dear Mr. State President,
I am writing to you to raise your attention to the case of the sales woman Wang Xiaoyan (born September 20th 1971) from Dalian, province Liaoning.
Mrs. Wang Xiaoyan was arrested by the police in front of her apartment house entrance door and sent to the remand prison Yaojia in Dalian. On July 12th 2006 she was transferred to the Masanjia labour camp where she is reportedly exposed to maltreatment and torture. There has been no warrant of arrest and no accusation was brought in. No trial has taken place; she was sentenced to two years of "re-education by labour". She is not allowed to appeal to court.
Therefore I appeal to you to exert your influence to immediately and unconditionally release Mrs. Wang and to compensate her for the detention and suffered maltreatments. I appeal to you to order that Mrs. Wang´s maltreatments and tortures will be examined independently, the results be published and the men in charge be brought to trial.
